THE PLACE
Mount Vernon, home town of ex Cowboy quarterback Don Meredith, sits just a couple of miles north of Interstate 30 in Franklin County one hundred miles northeast of Dallas in the edge of the Piney Woods. Springtime finds dogwood, redbud, and crepe myrtle mirrored in the water of picturesque Lake Cypress Springs a few miles south of town. Members of the Franklin County Arts Alliance will be our hosts for the weekend. Their Cultural Arts Center will be our headquarters for the weekend, our bad weather refuge, and the venue for Saturday’s reception, art show, and dinner.
THE SCHEDULE
Friday evening we will meet for supper at 7:00 at the Sweete Shoppe at 604 N I-30 (north service road at exit 147). Saturday morning we will paint in Mount Vernon, out at the lake, or in nearby Lake Bob Sandlin State Park. Lunch is on you own at any of the local cafes with the afternoon free for painting. Saturday evening we will gather at the Franklin County Arts Alliance Cultural Center one block west of the courthouse square. The
wine and cheese reception and mini art show starts at 6:00 p.m. with dinner at 7:00. Breakfast Sunday is on your own with more opportunity for painting or an early start for home.
