35th Western Fed Show is Set for May 2010

This year’s Western Federation of Watercolor Societies Exhibition will be held at the Utah Cultural Celebration Center in West Valley City. Sponsor is the Utah Watercolor Society. Juror will be Carol O’Connor.

Annual SWS Show call for entries

DEADLINE June 1, 2009.

Goodbye to slides! DIGITAL IMAGES only will be accepted for the 46th Annual Southwestern Watercolor Society Member Show.  To help you with the changeover, SWS is sponsoring a photo shoot on Sunday, May 3, at 2 PM at Artisans Studio in Farmers Branch. Steve Reed, the photographer for the advertising department of the Dallas Morning News, will take digital photos of up to three paintings, process them to fit SWS rules and send you a CD suitable for entry. The cost is $25 per artist, whether you have one, two or three paintings. If you plan to participate, please send an e-mail to herb.reed@tx.rr.com) with your name and phone number and put SWS Photo Shoot in the subject line of the e-mail.

The exhibition will be held Sept. 9 - Oct. 10, 2009 at the Plano Art Centre again. Cheng-Khee Chee will be the juror.

Entries for the exhibition may be submitted on-line or on a nonreturnable CD. Payment made be made online via PayPal or credit card or by check in mailing a CD.  Dues for 2009-2010 must be paid by June 1, 2008 to be eligible for the membership show. Work submitted must be water media on paper or yupo. Collage, if used, must be water media only. For more entry details see the 2009 Prospectus.

  • June 1 Deadline for receipt of digital images online or CD and entry forms.
  • June 7 Slide Preview Party, 2:30—4:30 p.m. Royal Lane Baptist Church, 6707 Royal Lane at Hillcrest.
  • July 13 Notices of Acceptance mailed.
  • August 28 Deadline for shipped paintings to arrive.
  • September 4 Craters and Freighters to deliver shipped paintings to Art Centre of Plano.
  • September 5 10 a.m.—1:00 p.m., Hand deliver accepted paintings to Art Centre of Plano,1039 E.15th St., Plano, TX. Hanging of show
  • September 9—October 10 SWS 46th Annual Membership Exhibition.
  • September 25 7—9 p.m., Awards Reception at Art Centre of Plano.
  • October 12 10 a.m.—2 p.m., Pick up handdelivered paintings at Art Center of Plano. Return shipping by Craters and Freighters of shipped artwork.
