Artist's Statement: Texture and the effects of light and shadow have become important elements in my paintings.I am fascinated with the glow of reflected light on various surfaces. Painting on location on a regular basis has opened many doors for me. I cannot improve nature, but I can rearrange and simplify it to correspond to what I feel. Traveling abroad has opened up new vistas of color and texture for me. I paint to convey the enjoyment and excitement of what I see
